Gegan Elementary School, Menasha WI - Addition and Remodeling

Our architects designed the addition for this Elementary School to include 3,790 s.f. of new administration and meeting space, staff work areas, and general storage space. Remodeling work included expanded library facilities and enhanced computer technology access totaling 3,100 s.f.  Martenson & Eisele also prepared bidding documents and assisted in bidding procedures for the new library furnishings shown in the photograph below.  Site work included a new parent drop off area and visitor parking lot along with expanded staff parking areas. A student-planted butterfly flower garden just outside the main entry remained undisturbed during construction due to some careful engineering and environmental sensitivity planning by the architect. Construction occurred during the school year with minimal disruptions because of a carefully phased schedule. Site work was started in June of 2001 and the building was occupied prior to the 2002 school year.  Construction cost was $775,000 including site work and contingency. This project was completed $33,050 under budget and with only five change orders.  Unused funds were returned to the District. Jeff Schulz served as project architect and Scott Tyler performed construction administration services.
